Reward offered to find owner of dog left for dead in Exeter Township
Birdsboro, PA -
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County is offering a $1,000 reward for any information about a starving dog that was found abandoned in Exeter Township last month.
Walton, named because he was found near Walmart, was found July 17 and weighed 22 pounds, the ARL said. He was estimated to be 10 months old and should have weighed about 60 pounds.
Walton died July 24.
"We do not know who Walton's owners are, but we are hoping someone does and we can get justice for this innocent soul," Liz McCauley, executive director of the ARL, said in a news release.
Walton's owner could face misdemeanor animal cruelty charges, which can carry fines between $300 and $1000 if convicted, according to McCauley.
The reward was put up by an anonymous donor.
Anyone with information on Walton or his owner is asked to call ARL humane police officers at 610-373-8830 extension 106.
