Cumru Township, PA -
Two of the three abandoned and emaciated dogs found in Berks County recently have died, according to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County.

A post Monday on the Cumru Township animal shelter's social media page indicated that a hound mix found last Monday and one of two pit bulls found July 14 died from the extreme neglect they experienced before being brought to the shelter.

A good Samaritan brought the hound mix, dubbed Walton, to the shelter after finding the dog lying along Lincoln Road near Walmart in Exeter Township.

The female pit pull, nicknamed Sally, was found abandoned in a Reading home after police were called to the building.

Another pit bull found at that home, named Franklin, was sent to a foster home for recovery and has already gained 7 pounds since first arriving at the shelter.

Anyone with information regarding the owner of Walton is asked to call the Animal Rescue League at 610-373-8830.
