Bally, PA -
Firefighters from Eastern Berks Fire Department, Hereford, East Greenville and Pennsburg spent about an hour Wednesday afternoon saving an iguana and extinguishing a house fire in Bally.

Crews were dispatched just before 12:45 p.m. for reports of a structure fire on Sycamore Road.

According to Paul Bartlett, public relations officer for Eastern Berks Fire, crews discovered a working fire in a bedroom on the second floor.

The bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down, and crews spent another half-hour working at the scene and making sure the fire did not spread beyond the original room, Bartlett said.

A pet iguana was rescued and returned to its grateful owner, he said.
