BIG ROCK, Ill. - Authorities say a dog they believe attacked and killed a firefighter in the northern Illinois village of Big Rock has been euthanized.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that Kane County Health Department official says the bull mastiff was put down at the request of the husband of the woman who was killed.

Dawn Brown died earlier this month after she was mauled by a dog in her home.

The 44-year-old Brown was a full-time firefighter and paramedic for the Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District and worked part-time as a paramedic for the Big Rock Fire Protection District.
