Nov. 21 Lancaster County Community Foundation Extraordinary Give
The Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue is seeking donations today, until midnight, through the Lancaster County Community Foundation Extraordinary Give. There are several bonuses throughout the day. Five donors will be selected randomly by computer to have an additional $1,000 added to their donation to their selected charity. Special prizes of $2,500 will be made to two organizations that have the greatest number of unique donors (one will go to an organization with a more than $1 million operating budget and with an operating budget of less than $1 million.
Nov. 21 Feast of Thanksgiving
Awesome Dawgs Dog Training LLC's Canine Culture Club will be holding a Feast of Thanksgiving Friday, Nov. 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Awesome Dawgs Education Center, 3052 Pricetown Road, in Alsace Township. All leashed, well-mannered dogs are always welcome. The purpose of our get-together is to provide the community of dog lovers a place to relax, have fun and enjoy canine and human companionship. Nov. 22 Fundraiser for Lower Heidelberg Twp. K-9 officer
Cub Scout Pack 423, based in Wernersville, will hold a bake sale fundraiser Saturday, November 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lowe's in Spring Township. The purpose of the bake sale is to raise funds for the purchase of a bullet-proof police dog vest for Empir, a Lower Heidelberg Township K-9 officer handled by police officer Justin Lawless.
Nov. 22 Whine and Dine Thanksgiving for Canines
Godfrey's Welcome to Dogdom, 4267 New Holland Road (Route 625), Brecknock Township, will hold its annual Whine and Dine Thanksgiving for Canines Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free, but donations for Mostly Muttz Rescue are appreciated. Items they need include: puppy food, leashes and collars (sets would be great), gift cards (generic cards from Amazon.com, pet stores, etc.), Nylabones, treats, paper towels, puppy pads, dewormer, all-natural flea and tick products like Alzoo. There will be turkey dog foods and treats made with pumpkin, cranberries and vegetables for your dog to try.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: meet artist Dale Dampman; meet Elaine Cury of Cleve's Superior Organic Dog Biscuits, who will have samples; and meet volunteers with Mostly Muttz Rescue who will have adoptable dogs along.
Nov. 30 Photos with Santa
Awesome Dawgs Dog Training LLC will offer canine photos with Santa on Sunday, November 30, from noon to 4 p.m. at its education center, 3052 Pricetown Road in Alsace Township. Dec. 6 Howliday Dogdom open house
Godfrey's Welcome to Dogdom, 4267 New Holland Road (Route 625), Brecknock Township, will hold an open house Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring your own camera to snap a shot with Santa Paws, who will appear from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be free refreshments, drawings and games.
Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 Pictures with Santa to benefit Mostly Muttz Rescue
Mostly Muttz Rescue will offer pictures with Santa Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7, at Tractor Supply Co.'s Pottsown store, 799 State St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Pets of all varieties and children are invited to attend. Cost is $10 for one framed, 4-inch by 6-inch photo or $15 for two of the same photo.
Dec. 13 Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue Meet & Greet the Goldens
The Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue will hold its monthly Meet & Greet the Goldens event Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at its Golden Gateway, 60 Vera Cruz Road,
Reinholds, PA 17569 (East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County). Meet the goldens that are available for adoption. Staff is on hand to answer questions and there is food available for purchase. No photographs are permitted. There is no admission charge.
