Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 Animal Rescue League Holiday Open House & Adopt-a-thon
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County will hold a Holiday Open House and Adopt-a-thon Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Cumru Township facility, 58 Kennel Road, just off Route 724 near the intersection with I-176. Every person that completes an adoption on the 13th or 14th will get to choose a free gift for their new pet. Guests can bring their pups for a photo with Santa (framed 4"×6" photos are available for just a $10 donation), pick up a snack from the Pawsome Partners, satisfy your sweet tooth at the Grey Muzzle bake sale, take a chance to win one of many prizes at the drawing table, or grab a tag off our Giving Tree to benefit a homeless pet this season. Local artist Nettie Price will have her work on display and for sale.

Dec. 13 Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue Meet & Greet the Goldens
The Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue will hold its monthly Meet & Greet the Goldens event Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at its Golden Gateway, 60 Vera Cruz Road,
Reinholds, PA 17569 (East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County). Meet the goldens that are available for adoption. Staff is on hand to answer questions and there is food available for purchase. No photographs are permitted. There is no admission charge.

Dec. 19 Festivus Celebration
Awesome Dawgs Dog Training LLC's Canine Culture Club will be holding a Festivus Celebration Friday, Dec. 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Awesome Dawgs Education Center, 3052 Pricetown Road, in Alsace Township. All leashed, well-mannered dogs are always welcome. The purpose of the get-together is to provide the community of dog lovers a place to relax, have fun and enjoy canine and human companionship. Bring a favorite dish or beverage to share. Call 610-750-6868 for more information. Admission is free.
