Dec. 1 through Jan. 3, 2107 Montgomery County District Attorney SPCA Support Drive
The Montgomery County District Attorney's office will hold its 10th Annual SPCA Support Drive from December 1 through January 3, 2017. All items collected will be donated to the Montgomery County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Animal toys, canned dog and cat food, animal blankets, towels and other items are being collected in three boxes in the Montgomery County Courthouse (Main Street and Swede Street entrances) in Norristown and one at the entrance of One Montgomery Plaza. The drive is spearheaded by assistant district attorneys Lindsay O'Brien and Lauren Marvel. Prosecuting animal cruelty cases are among their duties. Dec. 2 Festive Furry Friday
The Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th St., Reading, will hold a Furry Friday event on December 2. Sneak a free peek at a public art exhibit provided by area artists Lisa Gauker and Josh Steffy from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be appetizers, and beverages provided by local businesses.
Dec. 3 Humane Pennsylvania Howliday Open HousesThe Humane Society of Berks County, 1801 N. 11th St., Reading, and The Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, will hold Howliday Open Houses at their respective locations on December 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Santa Paws will be available from noon to 4 p.m. to take $5 photographs with families and pets. Pets should be well-behaved and leashed or carried. Visitors can enter a raffle or purchase a paw print ornament for $1 to personalize and hang on the shelters’ Christmas trees.
Baked goods and hot cocoa will be available for a small donation.To contribute homemade or store-bought treats to the bake sale, contact Mary Keller, marketing manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-750-6100 x213. All baked goods must be fresh, prepackaged for individual distribution, include a list of ingredients and allergens, and dropped off no earlier than December 2. Please specify the shelter location you wish to donate toward.
All pets adopted during the open house will receive a small gift from Santa.
Dec. 3 Animal Rescue League of Berks County Open House postponed
The ARL's Holiday Open House scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3, has been postponed until 2017. There will be no photos with Santa this year.
Dec. 10 Meet & Greet the Goldens
The Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue
will hold its monthly Meet & Greet the Goldens
at its Golden
Gateway facility, 60 Vera Cruz road, Reinholds, PA 17569 on Saturday, Dec. 10 , from 10 a.m. to noon. Come out to meet the dogs that are
available for adoption. Staff is on hand to answer all questions, and
food is available for purchase. There is no admission charge and DVGRR
